Zipping a folder into an .a file using ar

I would like to update FacebookSDK-3.5.2-Release.a to
FacebookSDK-3.7.1-Release.a
To do this I have to ar something the Facebook Folder in found in
https://developers.facebook.com/docs/ios/
This is for a phonegap plugin
